Car rental in Tashkent: conditions, documents, and answers to questions

Car rental in Tashkent from Rent-Trip: clear terms, transparent prices, and no hidden fees. We explain all rental details — from documents to deposit refund.

Driver requirements

Any driver over 21 years old with at least 2 years of driving experience can rent a car in Tashkent. For renting cars of the "Premium" and "Unique" classes, the driver's age must be at least 25 years, and experience — at least 5 years. These requirements are related to the high cost of cars and insurance risks.

The driver must have a valid driver's license. Citizens of Uzbekistan provide national licenses, foreign tourists provide an international driving permit (IDP) or their national license if it meets the requirements. The driver's license must be valid for the entire rental period.

If a second driver gets behind the wheel, he must also be included in the contract. To do this, he must meet the same age and experience requirements, and also provide his documents. Adding a second driver is free and does not affect the rental cost.

Please note: if you rent a car but a person not specified in the contract gets behind the wheel, this will be considered a violation of the terms. In this case, insurance does not apply, and you bear full responsibility for any damage.

Documents for rental

For citizens of Uzbekistan

To rent a car, citizens of Uzbekistan must provide:

  • Passport or ID card (original);
  • Driver's license (original);
  • TIN (for drawing up the contract).

For foreign citizens

Foreign tourists and guests of Uzbekistan can rent a car if they have:

  • International passports with a valid visa or registration;
  • International driving permit or national driver's license;
  • Migration card (if required).

For foreign citizens, a bank card may also be required to block the deposit if they do not pay the deposit in cash. We accept cash in UZS, as well as bank cards UzCard, Humo, Visa, and Mastercard.

All documents must be valid at the time of signing the contract. If your passport or driver's license expires during the rental period, we will not be able to rent you a car — this is a legal requirement.

Deposit by car class

Deposit is a guarantee of the car's safety. It depends on the class of the chosen car and is returned within 1–3 business days after returning the car without damage or fines.

Car classDeposit amount
Economyfrom 3,000,000 UZS
Comfortfrom 3,000,000 UZS
Businessfrom 5,000,000 UZS
Premiumup to 8,000,000 UZS
Unique modelsup to 8,000,000 UZS

The exact deposit amount is specified in the contract and depends on the specific model. The deposit can be paid in cash or blocked on a bank card. In case of accident-free rental and no fines, the deposit is fully refunded.

Please note: the deposit is not a rental fee. It is a temporary hold of funds that is not charged if there are no violations. When blocked on a card, the funds are released by the bank within 1–3 business days after returning the car.

Mileage and payment

The rental cost includes mileage of up to 200 km per day. This is enough for trips around the city and nearby suburbs. If you plan long trips, for example, to Samarkand or Bukhara, keep in mind that an additional fee is charged for each kilometer over the limit. The amount of the surcharge per kilometer is specified in the contract and depends on the car class.

Rental payment is made as a prepayment for the entire period. We accept cash in UZS, bank cards UzCard, Humo, Visa, Mastercard. For foreign guests, payment in US dollars or euros is possible at the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan on the day of payment.

The minimum rental cost in our fleet is from 250,000 UZS per day. This price includes basic insurance, roadside technical support, and car wash (if you return it clean).

If you plan to rent a car for a long term (from 30 days), we offer individual conditions. Contact us on Telegram, and we will calculate the cost considering your wishes.

Insurance and liability in case of an accident

All cars in our fleet are insured. The rental price includes basic civil liability insurance (OSAGO) and vehicle damage insurance (CASCO) with a deductible. The deductible is the amount you pay when an insured event occurs. The deductible amount depends on the car class and is specified in the contract.

In the event of an accident, it is necessary to:

  • Stop and turn on the hazard lights;
  • Put up a warning triangle;
  • Call traffic police officers (State Road Safety Inspectorate) and file a report;
  • Report an incident to our company by phone +998 (99) 480-38-00 or in Telegram +998994803800.

Do not leave the accident scene until the inspector arrives and do not sign documents if you do not agree with their contents. After the protocol is drawn up, contact us — we will help with the evacuation of the car, if necessary, and arrange a replacement vehicle.

Important: if you violate traffic rules and receive a fine, you are responsible for paying it. We will send you a copy of the decision, and you can pay the fine through a bank or online. If the fine is not paid within 30 days, we will be forced to deduct the amount from the deposit.

Travel outside Uzbekistan

By default, a rented car cannot be taken outside the Republic of Uzbekistan. This is due to the specifics of insurance and state registration of vehicles. If you need to cross the border, for example, into Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan, let us know in advance.

We may allow travel to certain countries after agreeing on terms. In this case, additional documentation will be required, and the deposit amount may be increased. There will also be a mileage limit of no more than 200 km per day, and an additional fee will be charged for exceeding the limit.

Please note that travel to countries with an unstable political or economic situation is prohibited. We do not recommend planning trips abroad without prior coordination with us.

If you want to go to the mountains, for example, to Chimgan or to the Charvak reservoir, this is allowed, but only on paved roads. Off-road driving in sedans is not allowed — for this it is better to choose an SUV from our fleet.

Returning the car and the deposit

The car must be returned at the same place where you received it (usually our office at Tashkent, Mirabad district, Amir Temur Avenue, 15). The return time must comply with the contract terms. If you return the car later than the agreed time, an additional fee is charged for each hour of delay.

Before returning, we inspect the car together for damage. If no new scratches, dents, or other defects occurred during the rental, the deposit is fully refunded. If damage is found, the repair cost is deducted from the deposit.

The deposit is refunded within 1–3 business days after returning the car. If you paid the deposit in cash, we will return it immediately after inspection. If the deposit was blocked on a card, the unblocking happens automatically, but the bank may process the transaction for up to 3 business days.

If you receive fines for traffic violations during the rental period, they will be deducted from the deposit. We will send you copies of the decisions and confirmation of payment. If the amount of fines exceeds the deposit, you are obliged to pay the difference.
