Deposit: how much and when it is returned

The deposit at Rent-Trip depends on the car class: from 3,000,000 UZS for economy and comfort, from 4,000,000 UZS for SUVs, minivans and commercial vehicles, from 5,000,000 UZS for business, and from 8,000,000 UZS for premium and exclusive models. This is standard practice for car rental in Uzbekistan — the amount is blocked on the card or paid in cash when receiving the keys. The deposit is returned within 1–⁠3 business days after returning the car without damages or fines — factor this time in if you plan to rent another car immediately.

What is included in the rate: mileage, insurance, surcharges

Chimgan and Charvak: is all-wheel drive needed

For Chimgan and Charvak (~80 km from Tashkent), Rent-Trip recommends all-wheel-drive crossovers — Chevrolet Captiva from 700,000 UZS/day or Geely Monjaro from 1,200,000 UZS/day. The road to Charvak is paved, but the last kilometers to the recreation areas are on dirt roads — there, ground clearance and all-wheel drive solve the issue of parking and climbing. In my opinion, for a one-day trip, the Chevrolet Tracker is enough: it is cheaper and will go anywhere on asphalt. All-wheel drive makes sense if you plan to stay overnight in the mountains and leave the main road.

Samarkand, Bukhara, Fergana: long-distance routes

For a trip to Samarkand or Bukhara (300-600 km), the Geely Coolray from 750,000 UZS/day or Chevrolet Equinox from 1,000,000 UZS/day are suitable — these are comfortable crossovers with good sound insulation and a spacious trunk. On the highway, what matters is not off-road capability, but stability at speed and efficiency: the Coolray consumes about 8 liters per 100 km, which, given fuel prices in Uzbekistan, provides significant savings. If you are traveling with three or four people with a lot of luggage, take the Chevrolet Traverse from 1,600,000 UZS — the third row of seats and huge trunk solve the seating issue.

City trips and business meetings

For getting around Tashkent and short trips to the suburbs, compact crossovers are convenient — BYD Song Plus from 1,200,000 UZS or Tesla Model Y from 1,500,000 UZS. An electric car is especially good for the city: quiet, smooth, and charging at stations in the center takes 30-40 minutes. For business meetings in Tashkent City or negotiations with partners, it makes sense to take a Lixiang L9 from 3,000,000 UZS — a hybrid with a spacious interior and modern features. In city traffic with its traffic lights and aryks, a compact car that is easy to park is more convenient.

When renting is cheaper than a taxi

Renting is beneficial for trips of 2 days or more, routes with multiple stops, or out-of-town trips with a group of 3 or more people. A trip to Charvak by taxi round trip will cost 400-500 thousand UZS, while renting a Chevrolet Tracker for a day is from 600,000 UZS, but you are not tied to a driver and can visit several places. When renting for 3-4 days, the savings are obvious: a taxi to Samarkand and back costs more than renting a crossover for the same period. In our practice, clients most often rent a car for 2-3 days for a trip to Samarkand and Bukhara — it's more convenient than ordering a taxi each time.

When a taxi is more convenient than renting

A taxi is convenient for one-off trips to the airport, short trips around the city, or if you don't plan to go beyond Tashkent. Within the city, renting isn't always justified: parking in the center is limited, and rush-hour traffic eats up time. For a one-day trip to Chimgan without an overnight stay, a taxi might also be simpler — no need to worry about a deposit and returning the car. But if the route includes multiple points or you're traveling with children and a lot of luggage, renting is almost always more convenient.

How rental works: from booking to return

Booking and confirmation

Booking a car at Rent-Trip is done via Telegram — message us, specify the dates, model, and purpose of the trip, we will confirm availability and reserve the car for you. The day before pickup, the manager will contact you to confirm the time and meeting place. We work without a prepayment for booking — payment is made upon receiving the car, which is convenient if plans change. For booking, a passport and driver's license are sufficient — their details are specified in the contract.

Getting the car and inspection

When handing over the car, we inspect it together with you: we record scratches, chips, the condition of the interior, and the fuel level — everything is recorded in the acceptance report. You receive the car with a full tank or with the fuel level specified in the report, and return it in the same condition. Along with the keys, we hand over the car documents and support contacts — in case of questions on the road. Before leaving, check the air conditioning — in Tashkent's heat, this is critical, and it's better to discover a problem before departure than on the highway.

Returning the car and ending the rental

Return takes place at the agreed location and time — we accept the car under the same act, checking the condition and odometer readings. If the mileage exceeds 200 km per day, the additional payment is calculated according to the rate specified in the contract and deducted during settlement. The deposit is returned within 1–⁠3 business days after returning the car without damage or fines — to a card or in cash, whichever is more convenient for you. Rental payment can be made in cash, via Payme, Click, or Uzcard and Humo cards.

Where to go from Tashkent in a rented car

Chimgan and Charvak: mountain destination for a day trip

Chimgan and Charvak Reservoir are the most popular destination for a day trip: about 80 km from Tashkent on a good paved road. The drive takes 1.5-2 hours one way, and on site you can swim, have a picnic, or take a hiking route. Keep in mind that on weekends there are many cars at Charvak — leave earlier to get a good spot on the shore. Renting a Chevrolet Tracker from 600,000 UZS/day fully covers this route.

Samarkand and Bukhara: classics for 2-3 days

Samarkand (300 km) and Bukhara (600 km) — a route for 2-3 days with an overnight stay, for which a comfortable crossover is needed. On the M39 highway, the surface is good, and gas stations are available every 50-80 km, so there will be no fuel problems. Take a Geely Coolray from 750,000 UZS/day or a Chevrolet Equinox from 1,000,000 UZS — on such a car, the road to Samarkand will fly by unnoticed. In Samarkand, be sure to visit Registan and Siyob Bazaar, and in Bukhara — the old city with its madrasahs and minarets.

Fergana, Khiva and travel to neighboring countries

For a trip to the Fergana Valley (about 300 km) or to Khiva (800 km), take a car with a comfort margin — Chevrolet Traverse from 1,600,000 UZS or Toyota Land Cruiser 200 from 2,000,000 UZS. The road to Khiva takes 8-9 hours, so plan an overnight stay in Bukhara or Urgench. If you are considering a trip to Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan, check with Rent-Trip in advance about the conditions for crossing the border — some models require additional documents. On long routes, factor in an extra charge for mileage over 200 km per day.
